Despite being the national capital with all the resources, Delhi’s government schools are running with just a few hundred smart boards. On the other hand, Gujarat, which faces challenges every year in various districts due to rains, has over one lakh smart classrooms. This clearly exposes the failure of the so-called Delhi education model…”

  • Jaipur Couple Seen Arguing On CCTV, Found Dead At Their House A Day Later

A married couple was found dead at their home in Jaipur’s Muhana in a suspected case of death by suicide. The police said they are looking into all angles, including murder. The bodies were found on Friday.

When Dharmendra, the husband, did not turn up at the bank where he was a sales manager and his calls went unanswered, a friend sent a family member to the flat. When the friend opened the door, Dharmendra and his wife Suman were found dead on the floor.

The police said they checked CCTV footage of the flat’s parking area and saw the couple arguing over something. The footage was of Thursday afternoon, a day before the suspected death by suicide.

Suman was seen trying to stop her husband from driving away. After what seemed like an argument, he stopped the car and started talking. She rested her head on his shoulder and held his arms. They came out of the vehicle and walked away, his arm around his wife’s shoulder.

Another video from the evening of the same day showed the couple entering the apartment together. Suman was seen carrying a bag. This was the last time both were seen alive.

“This appears to be a case of death by suicide. If murder is suspected, then we will investigate from that angle as well,” police officer Gur Bhupendra said.

Neighbours said the couple recently bought the flat and their financial condition seemed stable. While Dharmendra worked with a bank, Suman stayed at the flat as a homemaker. They are survived by two daughters, aged 11 and 8, who are currently at their village in Bharatpur with their grandparents during their summer holiday.

“We did not sense any financial dispute between the couple, who bought the flat a year ago,” a friend of Dharmendra said.

  • All 337 Tons Of Union Carbide Waste Burnt To Ashes In Madhya Pradesh

The highly poisonous methyl isocyanate gas leaked from the Union Carbide factory in Bhopal on the intervening night, causing one of the biggest industrial disasters

All 337 tonnes of waste of the now defunct Union Carbide factory in Bhopal has been burnt to ashes at a disposal plant in Pithampur, nearly six months after being brought to the unit, an official said on Monday.

While 30 tons of the waste was burnt earlier during three trials at the plant, the remaining 307 tons was incinerated between May 5 and the intervening night of June 29-30, the State Pollution Control Board official said, marking the end of a dark chapter of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy.

The waste disposal at the plant in Dhar district’s Pithampur industrial area was undertaken following directives of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

The highly poisonous methyl isocyanate gas leaked from the Union Carbide factory in Bhopal on the intervening night of December 2 and 3, 1984, causing one of the biggest industrial disasters in the world. At least 5,479 persons were killed and thousands were maimed.

The process of burning 307 tonnes of the factory waste at the disposal plant operated by a private company in Pithampur began around 7.45 pm on May 5 and ended on the intervening night of June 29-30 at 1 am, State Pollution Control Board’s regional officer Srinivas Dwivedi told PTI.

It was incinerated at a maximum rate of 270 kg per hour under the supervision of technical experts of the Central Pollution Control Board and the State Pollution Control Board, following the High Court’s directive issued on March 27, he said.

During the waste disposal, the emission of different gases and particles from the Pithampur plant was monitored on a real-time basis by an online mechanism and all the emissions were found to be within the standard limits, the official said.

“We have no information about any adverse effect on the health of people living in the surrounding areas during the incineration of the waste,” he said.

According to Dwivedi, the ash and other residue left after burning the total 337 tons of waste were being safely packed in sacks and kept in a leak-proof storage shed of the plant.

Special landfill cells were being constructed as per the scientific process to bury the residue (waste leftovers) in the ground, and this work is expected to be completed by November, he said.
